NWF Awards partners with first Mahi FC to reward NWFL Premiership Player of the Week with trophy/cash

Ahead of the 2025 Nigeria Women Football League Premiership season, the Naija Women Football Awards (NWFAwards) has partnered with First Mahi Investments to reward the best player in the league on a weekly basis.

The reward for excellence will kick off with the opening eight matches across the country, starting from Matchday one of the new season, scheduled to begin on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.

According to the CEO of First Mahi Investments, Prince Chidebere Onuoha Eze, "The reward is aimed at advancing the NWFL Premiership and women's football in the country by encouraging female footballers."

Prince Chidebere emphasized the importance of the weekly reward.

"This is to encourage these young female footballers, because I understand that whenever you give awards to these footballers, they want to do better," he noted.

Chidebere further spoke on why all efforts must be made to ensure the NWFL grows and improves, citing this as one of the reasons he is partnering with the organizers of the Naija Women Football Awards.

"I want to be part of the people who will change a lot of things in the NWFL league. I have been doing that for the last four years, and I just want to do more."

"We are going to make the NWFL one of the best leagues if we all come forward with our ideas to make the league work," Chidebere stressed.

On his part, the CEO of NWF Awards, Abolore AbdulRahmon, reiterated the commitment of the Awards to reward excellence in the NWFL.

He noted, "This year's Awards will include more categories as we are working on various areas to improve technicalities and fairness in the selection."

"This partnership with Prince Onuoha Chidebere Eze, the CEO of First Mahi Investments, to reward the most valuable player in the NWFL Premiership every week with a trophy and cash for their effort is a great addition," Abolore concluded.

The 2024 Awards Gala was hosted in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, where Coach Aduku Moses and Essien Emem emerged as the Coach and Player of the Season, respectively.

The NWF Awards began in 2018 as a platform to recognize and reward the best player and coach of the month, as well as the Team of the Week in the NWFL Premiership.
