Arsenal youth academy graduate Tim Akinola is set to return to Europe, marking a swift move after departing Al Bidda SC in the Qatargas League just five months ago.
The Nigerian midfielder, who received an invitation to the 2022 Olympic National Team, has reached a personal agreement with Portuguese top-flight club C.F. Estrela da Amadora.
Akinola and Al Bidda SC have amicably terminated their contract, allowing the player to join C.F. Estrela da Amadora as a free agent.
The 22-year-old is scheduled to travel to Portugal on January 31 to finalize his transfer, contingent on a routine medical examination.
Upon completion, Akinola will sign a two-year contract with C.F. Estrela da Amadora, including an option for an additional year.
In a notable transfer move, Estrela da Amadora successfully secured the services of the central midfielder, overcoming competition from teams in Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
Despite receiving a lucrative three-year contract offer from Al-Khor SC, Akinola opted to decline the financial allure, expressing his preference for a return to European football with Estrela da Amadora.
As of now, Estrela da Amadora holds the fourteenth position in the Portuguese Primeira Liga standings, having accumulated 18 points in nineteen matches.
Their upcoming fixture is scheduled against Estoril on February 4.
