The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has vehemently denied and refuted claims circulating in various online publications on Wednesday regarding Victor Osimhen, the Super Eagles’ forward. Reports had suggested that Osimhen faced a ban from the national team due to his recent social media outburst. Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, the NFF General Secretary, expressed deep surprise and dismay at these reports. He clarified that the Federation has neither initiated any formal proceedings nor reached any decision to impose a ban on the player.

Dr. Sanusi emphasized the importance of accurate reporting and urged the media to collaborate positively with the NFF. He stressed the need to resolve internal matters amicably and maintain focus on the broader goals of Nigerian football. "It is essential for all stakeholders to work together in addressing issues constructively," he remarked, "rather than exacerbating tensions unnecessarily."

He further emphasized, "Despite the lack of official communication from the NFF on this matter, unfounded rumors about Osimhen’s alleged ban have been circulating widely. Such misinformation does a disservice to the integrity of sports journalism and the public trust."

"At present," Dr. Sanusi continued, "our primary objective is to settle all outstanding issues concerning the Super Eagles squad. We aim to look forward with optimism towards the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and the remaining six matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification series."

The NFF Secretary underscored the importance of maintaining transparency and credibility in football administration. "This period demands clarity and unity within our football community," he affirmed, "and we must avoid spreading falsehoods that could undermine our collective efforts."

In conclusion, Dr. Sanusi called for restraint and responsible reporting from all quarters involved. He reiterated the NFF's commitment to handling internal matters professionally while upholding the dignity of Nigerian football on the global stage.
