Remo Stars' technical adviser, Daniel Ogunmodede, says his side must improve defensively if they want to win the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title as he leads his team to Akure to face Sunshine Stars in the decisive Match Day 37 of the 2023/2024 NPFL season.
Recall that Remo Stars FC have conceded 10 goals in their last five league matches.
The coach of the Sky Blue Stars, Daniel Ogunmodede, however believes that things can turn around if his boys defend well.
“Defensively, we want to improve; we aim to be a team that can go games without conceding goals; unfortunately, that hasn’t happened in the last five games,” he told the club’s media.
“That’s not our standard; we want to defend as well as we attack, scoring goals and preventing our opponents from scoring. We need to improve defensively, both in transition and in organizing our defense.”
The Sky Blue Stars defeated Heartland 4-1 in a Match Day 36 fixture at Remo Stars Stadium on Wednesday and now await the results from Match Day 37 in Akure to determine who will eventually claim the 2023/2024 NPFL league crown among the three contenders: 10-time champions Enyimba International FC, Rangers International FC, and his team.
The result from Match Day 36, however, moved the Sky Blue Stars up to second place in the table.
