Ex-Nigeria under-20 midfielder, Aniekeme Okon, was the hero for the Ikenne-based side, Remo Stars, as he came off the bench to net a brace in Remo Stars' 2-0 win over noisy neighbors, Sunshine Stars.
The petite midfielder has continually been a handful for Remo Stars in back-to-back games, coming through with goals when needed the most.
In its first game in the new year, Remo Stars were faced with a derby fixture on Matchday 17, having been drawn to lock horns with Sunshine Stars at their Remo Stars Stadium.
Heading to Ikenne for Matchday 17, Sunshine Stars hoped for maximum points as they were pumped up to wreak havoc in Ikenne.
The first half of the exciting fixture lived up to its billing, regardless of no goals being recorded despite the two teams' attempts at goal.
The second half of the game witnessed (2) goals off the boots of its mercurial midfielder, Aniekeme Okon, as he came off the bench, replacing Akorli.D at the 58th minute.
With the brace, the highly-rated midfielder's effort pushed Remo Stars on top of the log with 32 points, tied with second-placed Lobi Stars.
