Just hours after Jurgen Klopp, former Liverpool manager, was appointed head of Red Bull's global football operations, reports surfaced Wednesday linking Red Bull to a potential takeover bid for Paris FC, a club currently leading France’s Ligue 2. Sources indicate ongoing discussions between Paris FC and both Red Bull and the Arnault family, the latter owners of luxury conglomerate LVMH.
Neither Paris FC nor the Arnault family has offered any public comment on the matter. Paris FC’s president, Pierre Ferracci, who has been at the club’s helm since 2012, recently voiced his intention to eventually transfer ownership, sparking speculation of an impending sale.
Paris FC has traditionally played in the shadow of the Qatari-owned Paris Saint-Germain, yet now finds itself at the top of Ligue 2. If a deal goes through, Paris FC would join Red Bull's expanding sports portfolio, which includes soccer clubs RB Leipzig, Red Bull Salzburg, New York Red Bulls, and the Formula One team of Max Verstappen, the current world champion.
