Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti praised Jude Bellingham's impressive debut in a pre-season match against AC Milan in Los Angeles. While Fikayo Tomori scored for AC Milan, two second-half goals from Federico Valverde and a stunning winner from Vinicius Jr secured a 3-2 victory for Real Madrid in front of a 70,000-strong crowd at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena.
Bellingham's 62-minute debut showcased his natural technique and confidence, earning praise from Ancelotti. The young midfielder made a mazy run past Milan defenders and delivered a brilliant first-time half-volleyed pass in the crowded penalty area.
Ancelotti was impressed with Bellingham's quality, rhythm, and ability to find open spaces, considering him a rare talent at just 20 years old. Real Madrid paid Borussia Dortmund £88 million for Bellingham, securing him on a six-year contract and recognizing his potential.
Despite the intense pressure at Real Madrid, Bellingham's solid family background, bravery in moving to Dortmund at 17, and decision to join the Bernabeu over Premier League suitors suggest he can handle the challenge.
During the game, Bellingham played at the tip of a diamond formation, a role earmarked for him by Ancelotti. This allowed him to glide into open positions, and his fearlessness in demanding the ball and opting for challenging plays impressed the manager.
Bellingham already seems to have a good connection with Brahim Diaz, setting him up twice in the match. His performance in the debut suggested he is a distinct addition to Real Madrid's midfield.
As Bellingham's debut drew to a close, he showed signs of tiredness. With upcoming matches against Barcelona and Juventus, it remains to be seen how much involvement he will have in the game against Manchester United in Houston. Nonetheless, his debut has left a positive impression on both fans and the coaching staff at Real Madrid.
