Real Madrid eyes permanent move for Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea

Posted : 01 November 2023

Real Madrid is considering a move to secure Chelsea's on-loan goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga, in the upcoming winter transfer window. The Mirror reports that Kepa, who has been impressing during his loan spell at Real Madrid, could be in line for a permanent switch.

The 29-year-old goalkeeper, who was Chelsea's first choice last year, joined Real Madrid for the season, primarily due to Thibaut Courtois's injury. Kepa has expressed his preference to stay with Real Madrid on a permanent basis, and the Spanish giants might be willing to pay up to £17.5 million for him, potentially including their second-choice goalkeeper, Andriy Lunin, as part of the deal.

In the world of football club ownership, West Ham co-chair Vanessa Gold is looking to sell part of her family's 25 percent stake in the club. This potential sale could value West Ham at over £650 million, with Gold considering selling just under 10 percent of the family's shareholding. Discussions are underway with interested parties, including sports investment funds, and Czech investor Daniel Kretinsky, who owns 27 percent of the club, might consider increasing his stake.

Manchester United faces the risk of losing three first-team squad players for free if they don't take action. Contract talks with Aaron Wan-Bissaka have stalled, and it's now more likely that United will trigger a 12-month extension to keep him under contract until June 2025.

The 25-year-old defender's situation will be reassessed in the new year. Both Victor Lindelof and Anthony Martial are in similar situations, where they could speak to foreign clubs on January 1 if United doesn't activate the one-year contract extension.

Real Madrid's young striker, Vinicius Jr., has extended his contract until the summer of 2027. The updated deal includes a massive £874 million release clause, ensuring that any potential suitors would face a significant financial hurdle to acquire the Brazilian forward. Vinicius, who began his career with Flamengo, has made 235 first-team appearances for Real Madrid, scoring 63 goals during his time with the club.
