Real Madrid Clinches Record 15th Champions League Title with Victory Over Dortmund

Real Madrid secured a record-extending 15th Champions League title with a 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund at Wembley. The LaLiga champions were pushed to their limits by the Bundesliga underdogs, who defied expectations with a strong performance. Despite Dortmund's dominance in the first half, Real Madrid ultimately prevailed with second-half goals from Dani Carvajal and Vinícius Júnior, sealing the win and giving coach Carlo Ancelotti his fifth Champions League title.

 

Carvajal's goal, his first in the Champions League since 2015, and Vinícius Júnior's strike in the 83rd minute were enough to clinch the victory for Madrid. This win further solidified Ancelotti's record as the most successful coach in the competition's history. Although Madrid emerged as European champions once again, Dortmund were unlucky not to cause an upset in London, the site of their 2013 final defeat against Bayern Munich.

 

Dortmund, led by coach Edin Terzic, dominated the first half but failed to capitalize on their chances. Julian Brandt, Niclas Füllkrug, and Karim Adeyemi all missed opportunities to open the scoring. Füllkrug came closest to breaking the deadlock when he hit the post in the 24th minute. Madrid struggled to find their rhythm early on, with former Dortmund star Jude Bellingham effectively neutralized by his old teammates.

 

However, Real Madrid found their footing in the second half and eventually asserted their dominance. Carvajal's and Vinícius's goals turned the tide in their favor. The match also marked emotional farewells for two German legends, with Dortmund's Marco Reus making his final appearance for the club as a substitute, and Toni Kroos receiving a standing ovation from Madrid fans in his last club game before retirement.
