Real Madrid: Alvaro Rodriguez cannot represent Uruguay in the Under-20 World Cup

Alvaro Rodriguez, a striker for Real Madrid, won't be released so he may represent Uruguay in the Under-20 World Cup.
Madrid is eager to hold onto the young phenomenon for the remainder of the season, despite the player's desire to participate in the tournament that will take place in Argentina from May 20 to June 11.
"We received notification from Real Madrid that they will not be able to loan the player on the dates that were requested," Marcelo Garcia, head of the Uruguay's national team youth programme, said.
"There is not much that we can do and now we have to focus and look forward."
At the U20 South American championship held in Colombia earlier this year, Rodriguez scored five goals to help Uruguay finish second to Brazil.
"We understand Alvaro is also important for Real Madrid," Garcia said. "For us he is a fundamental player considering what he showed at the South American tournament.
"Unfortunately, Uruguay coach Marcelo Broli will not be able to count on Alvaro ... There was even the will of the footballer."
The 18-year-old Rodriguez has made six appearances for Madrid's first team this year; his most recent coming on March 11 in a 3-1 victory against Espanyol, when he entered as a late substitution.
Rodriguez's promotion to the first squad for the next season has already been announced by Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti.
Rodriguez is working to get Castilla, the club's reserve team, promoted to the second division of Spanish football in the meantime.
Madrid will likewise get a full month. They have seven games left in the La Liga season and will play Osasuna on May 6 in the Copa del Rey championship.
