RC Lens has confirmed the signing of Swedish winger of Nigerian descent, Jeremy Agbonifo, on loan from BK Häcken, with an option to purchase, according to a statement on their official website.
Agbonifo, 19, has been making a significant impact in Sweden's Allsvenskan league. The talented winger is currently representing Sweden at the U21 level internationally.
Born in Gothenburg, Sweden, Agbonifo joined BK Häcken's youth academy at a young age and quickly ascended the ranks due to his exceptional talent.
His remarkable performances caught the attention of Sweden's national teams, earning him call-ups to the U17, U18, and U19 squads. He also spent some time developing his skills at FC Porto's academy in Portugal.
Agbonifo’s breakthrough season came last year, when he returned to BK Häcken and secured a regular starting position. His blistering pace, technical ability, and football intelligence made him a standout player.
During his time with BK Häcken, Agbonifo scored six goals and provided three assists in 18 appearances across all competitions. He also showcased his ability on the European stage, scoring four goals in five UEFA Conference League qualifying matches.
His move to RC Lens is seen as a valuable addition to the squad, which is currently fighting for a European spot in Ligue 1. Agbonifo's versatility on the wings and his attacking prowess provide manager Will Still with multiple tactical options. He will wear the number 25 shirt and is expected to make his debut in an upcoming match against Montpellier.
