Rasmus Hojlund Says Manchester United Need More Time to Adapt to Ruben Amorim's System

Posted : 13 December 2024

Rasmus Hojlund acknowledged that Manchester United players still need more time to fully adapt to manager Ruben Amorim's new 3-4-3 system after their 2-1 Europa League victory over Viktoria Plzen. The Denmark striker, who came off the bench to score both goals, has been in good form in the competition, with five goals in six appearances this season. Despite the win, Hojlund emphasized that the team is still in the early stages of implementing the new formation.

The 21-year-old expressed that while progress is being made, there is still a lot of work to be done in terms of refining routines and integrating the system into their play. He explained that due to limited training sessions, the team is effectively learning and practicing the formation during matches. Hojlund remains confident that, with more time, the system will become more natural for the squad.

Reflecting on the match in Plzen, Hojlund noted that the cold weather and difficult pitch conditions posed initial challenges for United. However, the team managed to overcome these obstacles in the second half and secure a crucial win, putting them back into the top eight of the competition as they aim for direct qualification to the round of 16. United, currently 13th in the Premier League, will face defending champions Manchester City in their next match on Sunday.
