Rangers miss profit as Super Eagles star joins Premier League

Glasgow Rangers missed out on a chance to earn extra revenue from Calvin Bassey's transfer to Fulham.
When Rangers acquired Bassey in 2020 for a minimal fee, they cleverly included a 10% sell-on clause in his contract, hoping to benefit if he was later sold at a profit.
Last summer, Rangers cashed in significantly, selling Bassey to Ajax Amsterdam for a staggering €23 million.
However, Ajax's recent decision to part ways with the player for €22.5 million meant they made no profit from the deal. As a result, Rangers will not receive any additional remittance.
In contrast, Ajax had protected their own interests by including a 10% sell-on clause in Bassey's contract with Fulham, guaranteeing them a share of any future transfer fee regardless of the price.
Despite the missed opportunity for Rangers, Bassey is expected to thrive in the competitive English Premier League while playing for Fulham.
His impressive debut performance for the club has earned praise from his manager, hinting at a promising future for the Super Eagles defender.
With Fulham finishing a respectable 10th place in the Premier League last season, Bassey has a solid platform to showcase his talent at the highest level of English football.
