Enugu Rangers to Return to Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in November, Confirms Governor
Enugu Rangers International Football Club is set to make a triumphant return to their home ground, Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, come November, according to the State Governor, Mr. Peter Mbah. This announcement was made during his recent broadcast on the occasion of his 100 days in office.
Governor Mbah, while highlighting his administration's achievements over the past three months, acknowledged the fervent desire of Rangers' fans to witness their beloved team playing once again at their traditional home, known as "The Cathedral."
He assured the public that all necessary arrangements, including the payment for the installation of astro turf on the pitch, have been completed. As a result, he confidently declared that the team would be back at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium within the next two months.
"In the area of sports management, it has continued to be a matter of concern to this administration that our leading football brand in the State, Rangers International FC, does not play at its traditional home ground at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium," Governor Mbah remarked.
"To address this anomaly, we have taken immediate steps to complete the re-laying of the playing surface at the Stadium. All requisite payments have been made, and we can assure the lovers of Rangers that our darling team will return to playing its home games in our own stadium before the end of November," he assured.
Enugu Rangers, the 2016 Nigeria Premier League champions, have played their past two league seasons' home matches at the Awka City Stadium in Anambra State. While it's expected that they will commence the upcoming league season at Awka, they are scheduled to make their triumphant return to the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in November, should the Governor's promise hold true.
The 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier League season is set to kick off on Saturday, September 9th, adding to the anticipation of Rangers' homecoming.
