The management of Rangers International F.C. (the "Flying Antelopes") has stated that the club still has a running contract with its technical adviser, Coach Abdul Maikaba, as the team continues its preparation for the last match of the 2022/2023 NPFL Abridge season and the remaining matches of the 2023 Federation Cup.
The clarification was made by the Administrative Secretary of the club, Ferdinand Ugwuarua, in the wake of speculations making the rounds in some sections of the media that the club has concluded talks with another coach.
He described the online media report as mere speculation targeted at derailing the team from achieving its set targets.
“How can anyone be talking of coaches' contracts at this stage when we are focused on ending the NPFL 2022/2023 Abridge season on a high and continuing our fine run in the Federation Cup 2023?"
"These are mere speculations that come with end-of-season activities, as I can attest to the fact that we still have a running contract with our technical adviser, Coach Abdul Maikaba,” stated the youthful administrator.
He stated further, “We can’t be distracted, as I believe that is what the flyer of that material wants to achieve."
"The team is united in the chase for a top-six finish as well as emerging winners of the Federation Cup 2023, as motivation is at its highest."
"The players are responding well to drills from the coaching crew headed by coach Abdul Maikaba, whom I believe has what it takes to lead us to our 7th Challenge/Aiteo/Federation Cup next month.”
Rangers will this weekend trade tackles with defending NPFL champions Rivers United in a matchday 18 NPFL 2022/2023 Abridge Season, Group B fixture at the Awka City Stadium on Sunday, May 21, 2023, with kickoff set for 4.00 pm.
