“I am not under any pressure because it’s just a game of football. They are my former team, and I respect them a lot, but I have moved on, and I have to defend the badge of Rangers.
"I owe them respect, but not on the field of play. On Sunday, I assure my fans and the club’s numerous supporters of nothing but victory. We will put smiles on their faces as they head home after the match,” stated the versatile player, known for his ability to adapt to multiple positions on the pitch.
With 10 positions separating the two teams on the domestic scene, the reigning champions currently sit in 6th place, while their visitors are in 16th. Fans attending the match at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, popularly known as “The Cathedral,” on Sunday, November 17, 2024, can expect quality football as both sides are led by experienced tacticians.
Last season, the teams shared honors, with Bendel Insurance securing a 2-0 victory in the first round, only for the “Flying Antelopes” to exact revenge in the Match Day 37 fixture. Goals from Kenechukwu Agu and Chidiebere Nwobodo ensured a 2-0 win for Rangers in the penultimate match of the season, as they went on to claim their 8th league title.
Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu, who is currently with the Super Eagles for the final AFCON qualifier against Rwanda in Uyo on Monday, has entrusted his capable lieutenants, led by Coach Ekeh Ekenedilichukwu, with the task of securing victory. With all registered players available except for five, Rangers are optimistic about their chances.
With players like Obaje Godwin, Kingsley Maduforo, and Isaac Saviour in fine form, Rangers are prepared to face a Bendel Insurance squad featuring key players such as Michael Enaruna, Austin Ogunye, Kayode Oke, and Emmanuel Ugwu in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.
