Rangers International celebrates Youth/Female teams

Posted : 20 December 2024

It was a time off the rigorous hustle and bustle of the pitch for the Rangers U-19 Youth Team and Rangers Female Team (Greenfoot Ladies) as the management of the team, led by its chairman, Barrister Amobi Ezeaku, hosted the teams at a Christmas get-together party in the boardroom of the club's corporate office.

The General Manager/CEO of Rangers, Amobi Ezeaku Esq., who led the management team on the brief occasion, congratulated the players, coaches, and other officials of both teams for the successes recorded in 2024, while urging them to return well-prepared for the upcoming year to perform even better than they did in the previous year.

“I must congratulate all of you—the Rangers Ladies and the Rangers Youth Team—for the successes we achieved together this year. This is part of the state government’s commitment under the leadership of Peter Mbah, the Executive Governor of Enugu State, to youth development and a key aspect of our strategic plans for community engagement.

“It was not easy, I must confess, but with your cooperation, we have many reasons to celebrate. No doubt, we still have a lot of ground to cover, but with what we have been able to achieve this year, management is proud and encouraged to invest more in your programs.

“I urge you to return after the holidays more determined than ever to conquer,” stated the young club manager.

Coach of Greenfoot Ladies, Aneke Favour, in response to the GM’s speech, thanked the management for all the support it gave to the female team, which led to many successes in 2024, including winning the Enugu State Female Challenge Cup, reaching the later stages of the President National Challenge Cup, participating in many tournaments around the country, and having one of its players, Arogundade Funke, represent the National U-17 Female Team at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic between October and November 2024. She promised that the ladies are focused on achieving even greater successes in the coming years.

On his part, the coach of the Rangers U-19 Youth Team, Felix I. Nwosu, also praised the magnanimity of management in establishing the youth team, which is the breeding ground for future players of the senior team.

He also promised that, with the quality of players in the youth team, the era of sourcing players from outside to fill vacant spaces in the senior team will soon be over.

He then thanked the club’s major partners, Afrinvest West Africa and Nortra Tractors, for their support.

Players, coaches, and accompanying officials were later treated to a sumptuous lunch, as the chairman of the club presented various sums of money to both teams for their Christmas celebrations.
