Barry Ferguson, retired Rangers midfielder, has expressed confidence that Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers will overcome his slow start and find his rhythm in due time, despite initial challenges.
Having joined Rangers from Cremonese for €5.5 million, Dessers faced high expectations after his successful stints with Genk and Feyenoord, but his performances have yet to match those standards, leading to some doubts.
Although he debuted in their Premiership opener against Kilmarnock, Dessers struggled to make an impression.
He later scored in the Champions League qualifier against Servette, yet faced criticism from fans when he didn't score in the subsequent victory against Livingston.
Ferguson acknowledges the difficulties Dessers has encountered, understanding the pressure he's under, and believes the striker needs to find his stride gradually.
Ferguson stated, "Dessers looks like a player who needs one big moment just to take the weight off his shoulders... this tie might be the perfect opportunity for him to get fully up and running."
With competition from fellow strikers Sam Lammers and Danilo, Dessers is urged to reach his best form swiftly to secure his place as the primary choice at the Ibrox Stadium.
