Nigerian international Bright Osayi-Samuel may be nearing the end of his journey with Fenerbahce, as speculation grows about a potential transfer. Reports from Turkey suggest that domestic rivals Galatasaray are closely monitoring his situation and could make a move if the defender doesn't secure a return to the Premier League.
Zeki Uzundurukan, a respected Turkish football analyst and editor-in-chief of Fotomaç, hinted that Osayi-Samuel could follow in the footsteps of Michy Batshuayi, who made a high-profile move last year. Uzundurukan believes Galatasaray are ready to offer him a deal, especially if his Premier League options don’t pan out.
“Galatasaray is interested,” Uzundurukan shared via Gsgazete. “His contract is expiring, and he’s looking for a significant salary. Given that there's no restriction on foreign players, Galatasaray might find it an easy deal — no transfer fee, just wages. Plus, with Mourinho favouring Mert Müldür at Fenerbahce, Osayi might get more regular playing time at Galatasaray.”
The 27-year-old's representative has reportedly initiated conversations with Galatasaray, leaving the door open for a move. The player is said to be weighing all his options carefully, with a preference for playing time and stability in the next stage of his career.
Since arriving from Queens Park Rangers in 2021 for around €500,000, Osayi-Samuel has established himself as a crucial player for Fenerbahce. Transitioning from a winger to a dependable right-back, he has made over 170 appearances, notching seven goals and providing 15 assists across all competitions.
He was instrumental in Fenerbahce’s 2023 Turkish Cup triumph and has featured prominently in both UEFA Europa League and Champions League campaigns. His performances at club level also earned him a regular spot in Nigeria’s national team, including a standout showing during their journey to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Despite ongoing contract talks, no final agreement has been reached between Osayi-Samuel and Fenerbahce. Though he has publicly expressed his love for the club and desire to win the league title, interest from English sides such as Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, and Wolves suggests that a big decision looms. For now, his focus remains on helping Fenerbahce chase down Galatasaray in the final stretch of the Super Lig season.
