Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of defender Lucas Hernandez from Bayern Munich on a five-year contract, as announced by the Ligue 1 champions on Sunday.
The exact transfer fee has not been disclosed, but according to French media, PSG has paid Bayern a fee of €40 million ($43.87m) with potential add-ons for the 27-year-old player.
Expressing his excitement, Hernandez stated in a statement, "I'm really excited! I've been waiting to join PSG for a long time, and it's finally happened. It's a very special day for me, and I'm very happy to be here."
Reports from Spanish media indicate that Atletico Madrid, Hernandez's former club, will also receive a significant fee as part of the transfer deal.
Since his arrival in 2019, the French international has made 107 appearances for Bayern Munich, but his playing time was limited last season due to a cruciate ligament rupture injury he suffered at the World Cup, keeping him out for the remainder of the campaign.
Hernandez becomes PSG's fifth new signing, joining midfielders Manuel Ugarte and Lee Kang-in, central defender Milan Skriniar, and forward Marco Asensio. In addition to the player acquisitions, the club recently made a managerial change by appointing former Barcelona and Spain coach Luis Enrique, replacing Christophe Galtier.
