PSG Ready to Break Transfer Record for Barcelona's 16-Year-Old Star Lamin Yamal

Posted : 29 June 2024

Kylian Mbappe has officially taken on managerial roles at both Real Madrid and PSG, prompting a search for his successor. Among the top contenders for the role is 16-year-old Lamin Yamal, who has been a long-term target. This morning, "Mundo Deportivo" reported that PSG is willing to break the transfer record to secure Barcelona's young talent, raising their previous offer from 200 million euros to 250 million euros.

Three months ago, Barcelona's president, Juan Laporta, confirmed that the club had rejected a 200 million euro offer for Yamal. Despite PSG's increased bid, Barcelona is expected to decline the offer once again, which would make Yamal's transfer the highest in history, surpassing Neymar's 222 million euro move to PSG in 2017.

Yamal has had an impressive season, scoring six goals and providing seven assists in 39 appearances across all competitions. He also played a key role for Spain in the current Euros, where the team finished the group stage with a perfect record. Laporta expressed confidence in Yamal's future during an interview last March, stating that the club turned down offers for him because they believe in his development and are on a path to economic recovery.

In the meantime, Barcelona is also eyeing another Spanish national team standout, Nico Williams of Athletic Bilbao, to strengthen their left attacking position. Williams, who has drawn interest from Hansi Flick, has not committed to a move yet, stating that his decision will come after the Euros. However, Catalan sources suggest that Williams is unlikely to join Barcelona.
