Paris Saint-Germain stormed into the last 16 of the Champions League with a ruthless 7-0 victory over Brest, sealing a 10-0 aggregate win. Having already secured a commanding 3-0 first-leg advantage, PSG showed no mercy in the return fixture at the Parc des Princes.
The match featured seven different goal scorers, with Bradley Barcola, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Vitinha, Desire Doue, Nuno Mendes, Goncalo Ramos, and Senny Mayulu all finding the net. The dominant display marked PSG’s biggest winning margin in a European match and their most prolific Champions League outing since a 7-1 triumph over Celtic in 2017.
Despite struggling in front of goal earlier in the competition, PSG have been in devastating form, scoring 21 goals in their last five matches. Their performance was even more impressive considering Ousmane Dembélé, who had netted 18 goals in his previous 12 appearances, failed to add to his tally.
For Brest, the defeat was a crushing end to their debut European campaign after their remarkable third-place finish in Ligue 1 last season. Having not beaten PSG in four decades and losing 19 of their last 20 encounters, Brest never looked likely to cause an upset.
Brest had an early chance to take the lead when Mathias Pereira Lage’s effort was blocked by Marquinhos, but PSG soon took control. Barcola opened the scoring in the 20th minute, finishing a Fabian Ruiz pass with a clinical strike at the near post. Kvaratskhelia doubled the lead before halftime, converting a flicked pass from Barcola.
The visitors hit the woodwork twice, but PSG’s superiority was clear as Vitinha’s long-range effort made it 3-0 before Ramos assisted Doue for the fourth goal. Mendes and Ramos added further strikes before Mayulu, an 18-year-old prospect, completed the rout in the closing minutes.
The result underlined PSG’s credentials as serious contenders for the Champions League title under Luis Enrique. With the French giants in blistering form, their next challenge will be determined in Friday’s draw, where they will face either Liverpool or Barcelona in the last 16.
