Barcelona Targets Newcastle's Alexander Isak for Striking Reinforcement
Barcelona is reportedly interested in acquiring striker Alexander Isak from Newcastle United. Xavi, the Barcelona manager, admires Isak and sees him as a valuable addition to the team's forward options, especially considering Robert Lewandowski's age, who is now 35.
Isak was signed by Newcastle for a club-record fee of £63 million last summer. He has scored 12 goals in 31 matches but faces competition from Callum Wilson for the starting role upfront. Barcelona is unlikely to make any serious moves until the summer, given Isak's contract runs until 2028.
Everton's Takeover by 777 Partners Faces Regulatory Challenges
The proposed takeover of Everton by 777 Partners is facing complications. The government has indicated that the matter falls under the jurisdiction of the Premier League.
However, it is expected that the government's independent regulator will eventually make the decision regarding whether 777 Partners is a suitable owner for the historic British club. Josh Wander, a co-founder at 777 Partners, previously faced legal issues, having pleaded no contest to charges of cocaine trafficking in 2003.
Everton's potential new ownership raises significant concerns and will be subject to scrutiny.
Brighton's Pursuit of Boca Juniors' Valentin Barco Continues
Brighton is targeting Valentin Barco, a 19-year-old left-back from Boca Juniors. Brighton attempted to sign Barco during the summer transfer window and came close to triggering his release clause, which is around £10 million. However, the deal became complicated due to strong interest from Manchester City and Juventus. Brighton remains determined to secure Barco's services and believes they can offer him a promising move for his career at this point.
