Pre-match: Relegation fireworks as Kwara United and Nasarawa Utd battles
Posted : 07 May 2023
Akure Township Stadium will be ignited on Sunday as Kwara United FC battles fellow strugglers Nasarawa Utd to determine who will eventually drop from the Premier League.
With only a point separating the two clubs in the red zone of relegation, Kwara United must do all they can to avoid defeat against Nasarawa United, bearing in mind that they will be playing away from their traditional home in Ilorin after a harsh banishment by the league body over an infraction.
The Afonja Warlords presently occupy the eighth position on the NPFL table with 14 points from 16 matches after being unable to secure a win in the last five matches with two draws and three losses.
Nasarawa Utd, on the other hand, currently occupies one of the drop zones in 9th position with 13 points. At the Akure Township stadium, Kwara United will face Nasarawa United, with both sides fighting for survival this season.
The Solid Miners will approach the game with confidence after securing the maximum points in their last game against the Shooting Stars and despite suffering back-to-back defeats at home. Meanwhile, the Afonja Warriors believe the home advantage can still work in their favor.
