Portugal and Italy reach 2023 UEFA European Under-19 Championship final

Portugal and Italy secured their spots in the final of the 2023 UEFA European Under-19 Championship, setting up a rematch of the 2003 decider. The final will be held at the National Stadium in Ta'Qali on Sunday, July 16.
Portugal dominated their match against Norway, taking an early lead through Gustavo Sá's goal. Hugo Félix extended their advantage with a well-taken penalty, and Rodrigo Ribeiro added a third before halftime. In the second half, Ribeiro struck again with a header, and Carlos Borges scored Portugal's fifth, sealing an impressive victory.
In the other semifinal, Italy faced Spain in a tightly contested match. Spain controlled possession in the first half, while Italy defended compactly and looked to counter-attack. Bruno Iribarne made several important saves for Spain to keep the scores level.
However, Samuele Vignato broke the deadlock for Italy in the 52nd minute, only for Víctor Barberá to equalize shortly after. Niccolò Pisilli then put Italy back in front, but Yarek Gasiorowski equalized once again. The match took a dramatic turn when substitute Luca Lipani scored the winning goal in the 85th minute, securing Italy's place in the final.
It is worth noting that this will be Portugal's sixth appearance in the U19 EURO final, having previously lost to Italy in 2003. They were crowned champions in 2018 after defeating Italy in a penalty shootout.
Italy, on the other hand, have reached the final five times but have only won the title once, in 2003 against Portugal, featuring Giorgio Chiellini in their squad.
