"Played as a midfielder" - Italy coach praises the adaptability of the Tottenham defender

Italy coach Luciano Spalletti has revealed that the versatility of Tottenham Hotspur defender Destiny Udogie allows him to play effectively in a midfield role. 

Udogie, a 20-year-old talent of Nigerian heritage hailing from Verona, has earned his first call-up to Italy's senior national team for the upcoming 2024 European Championship qualifiers against Malta and England. 

Starting his career as an attacking midfielder, Udogie transitioned to the wingback position during his tenure at Udinese, showcasing his adaptability. 

He is now recognized as one of the most promising young left-backs in the Premier League, proving his mettle against some of the league's top right wingers such as Manchester United's Antony, Liverpool's Mohamed Salah, and Arsenal's Bukayo Saka. 

Spalletti acknowledges Udogie's ability to shift into midfield if needed during the Euro qualifiers.
