With all four goals, including an own goal by Ogu Jerry, scored in the first half at the New Jos Stadium, Plateau United have extended their good run of form by thrashing Abia Warriors 3-1, climbing to fifth in the table.
Plateau United FC, not leaving anything to chance, ensured a convincing win over the visiting Abia Warriors FC.
Goals started coming in the 5th minute as Chris Nwaeze found the net with a powerful header, courtesy of Itodo's brilliant assist, giving Plateau United the lead.
The Peace Boys extended their lead in the 9th minute as Itodo's throw-in set the stage again. Chris delivered a chip, which was deflected, causing Barnabas to slot it into the far right.
Plateau United FC's Sam Pam stepped up for a crucial shot in the 16th minute, just 5 yards from the box. His precision was met by Chris Nwaeze, who took a powerful shot. The ball took an unexpected turn as it deflected off Jerry Ogu, the Abia defender, forcing an own goal.
The three-goal lead did not deter Abia Warriors as they made a spirited comeback.
Abia pulled one back despite a brilliant save by Bamidele that pushed the ball out. Meme Okolie seized the opportunity and slotted it into the net for Abia Warriors FC.
The game, however, ended 3-1 in favor of Plateau United FC.
