Plateau Utd FC steps up preparations ahead of 2023/2024 season

Posted : 16 August 2023
Just about few weeks to the  commencement of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League, Plateau United Technical Adviser, Mbwas Mangut  has continue to probe his squad's level of preparedness in fitness, tactics, technique, and match readiness.

The Peace Boys now awaits the  unveiling of Ghanaian imports, striker Frederick Boateng from Ghana's  Nsoatreman FC, Former Recreativo Dolibolo FC of Angola defender,Seth Owusu and goalkeeper  Baboni  Ibrahim who joins from CS Kapamik of Uzbekistan all figure in the manager's plans.

The Peace Boys in a Pre-Season match played against the former kit suppliers, Bitnob, whose competitive team  pushed the Premier League side to  the wires for major periods but class eventually dominated.

Following Bitnob' s  Sanji Dan Baba's opening goal just minutes after the start, the game  featured a flurry of goals, skills and imagination with a handful of beautiful moments to behold.

Following levelled score lines minutes later, Chris Nweze rises to cooly nod- in a Daniel Itodo supply to make it 2-1 with an eventual Mohammed Mohammed invention forcing the opposition to bring him down in the vital area and provide Frederick Boateng with a chance to net his third preseason goal in 4 matches.

In the Second  half, former Enyimba International football club forward, Samuel Kalu would rise  to connect  Mustapha Abdullahi's supply for  the Peace Boys' fourth goal after Bitnob' s Jonathan Yakubu had pulled one back already, an attempt he nearly replicated off the Peace Boys' woodwork much later.

Dadung Amos Gyang striked the woodwork in sublime fashion  but the beauty of the game saw Pam Sunday laying a pass to Mancha to combine with Samuel Kalu who drives and connects Sunday Anthony.

Sunday Anthony  hands the ball to Pam Sunday who frees up Eric Ugwocha for a calm finish to hand Plateau United a fifth after  full time.

Fresh off from the game, the Peace Boys will now head to Bauchi for the second edition of the Ibrahim Gusau/Ahlan Preseason tournament and pitted in Group B alongside Elkanemi Warriors of Maiduguri, Katsina  and Doma United respectively.

Meanwhile, the Interim Management Committee has postponed the date for the commencement of the 2023/2024 NPFL Season from August 26 to September 9,2023.

The league body cited reasons bordering NPFL Live app trials across Nigeria stadia and continental engagements as key reasons behind the decision.
