In a captivating showdown at the Plateau State Football Association Women’s International Day Tournament, Plateau Queens asserted their dominance with a commanding 3-0 triumph over Mighty Jets Mata.
The match ignited with both teams displaying early aggression, but it was Plateau Queens who seized control from the onset.
In the 8th minute, Rita Sunday gave Plateau Queens the lead through Blessing’s corner.
As the game progressed, Plateau Queens maintained their relentless pressure, and their efforts paid off once again in the 32nd minute.
Rita Sunday displayed individual brilliance, creating her own chance by regaining possession after losing the ball, and then calmly slotting it past the goalkeeper to secure her brace.
Just before the winning goal came, a moment of brilliance from Plateau Queens occurred in the 82nd minute when Sarah Joseph initiated a counterattack, finding Juliet Okoloko on the right wing.
Juliet then played a clever pass to Janet Dalyop, who dribbled into the penalty area before returning the ball to Juliet.
Unfortunately, Juliet slipped on the ball close to the post and couldn’t manage to take a shot.
In the closing stages of the game, Plateau Queens continued to press forward, determined to further solidify their dominance.
Their persistence was rewarded in the 84th minute when Juliet Abwo delivered a stunning strike through Juliet Jude’s smooth assist, adding a third goal to Plateau Queens' tally and sealing their victory.
Plateau Queens' performance was a testament to their skill, cohesion, and unwavering determination. They controlled the game from start to finish, showcasing their prowess in both attack and defense.
Despite Mighty Jets Mata's resilience, they were unable to withstand the relentless onslaught from Plateau Queens.
With this resounding victory, Plateau Queens emerge winners of the PFA Women’s International Day Tournament.
