Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, expressed his delight and admiration for matching Sir Alex Ferguson's achievement of winning the treble after their victory over Inter Milan.
Guardiola revealed that he received a message from the iconic former Manchester United boss before City's match against Inter, where they secured the historic treble. The winning goal, scored by Rodri, not only sealed the victory but also made City the first club since United in 1999 to claim the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League titles in a single season.
Reflecting on the accomplishment, Guardiola stated, "I'm eagerly looking forward to being on the bus with the three trophies. It's a great honor for me to be mentioned alongside Sir Alex Ferguson — he sent me a message this morning."
For Guardiola, this victory marked his first Champions League triumph since 2011 and his first as the manager of Manchester City, having previously won the prestigious tournament with Barcelona.
It is worth noting that Guardiola's Barcelona team also achieved the treble in the 2008/09 season by securing La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Champions League titles.
