Despite their 2-0 defeat at the hands of the league leaders, Rangers International FC of Enugu, Plateau United FC Technical Adviser, Mbwas Mangut, has asserted that bookmakers should not write off the team from the league title race yet, adding that they can still turn the tables around.
Following the 0-2 defeat handed by the Flying Antelopes at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, 'The Cathedral', in Enugu during the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 32, Mangut expressed optimism during his emotional return to the field where he once coached the same team that defeated him.
He noted that some upcoming games would determine the fate of the teams chasing the title.
“It is a matter of two games, and we have six games to go. Rangers have advantages, we are at a disadvantage, but I believe we can still work hard and possibly reach the top," he stated.
Regarding his return to the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Mbwas, who was delighted with the support shown by the fans, described the encounter as delightful.
"Well, it was a very pleasant encounter, to be honest. Both sides expressed themselves, and you could see that chances were limited for both teams.
"I think the familiarity of the technical staff on both sides could be a factor, and the players raised their game, although we lost concentration early and conceded," he added.
The Jos-based side, with 50 points, currently sits in sixth position in the league table.
Next, they will face Ekiti United in the Round of 64 of the President Federation Cup in Enugu.
