Paul Onuachu close to joining Osimhen in Turkish League

Super Eagles forward Paul Onuachu is nearing a return to the Turkish Süper Lig, with Göztepe leading the charge to secure his transfer. Göztepe has made significant efforts to bring Onuachu back to Turkey, positioning themselves as the frontrunners in the race for his signature.


Onuachu previously enjoyed a successful spell at Trabzonspor, where he scored 17 goals in 25 appearances last season. Despite Trabzonspor's ongoing interest in re-signing the striker, Southampton, his current club, has yet to agree to a transfer, maintaining a firm stance on his valuation.


Göztepe has emerged as a serious competitor, presenting an offer that appears more attractive to Southampton. The club is making concerted efforts to complete the transfer, as Southampton is unable to offer Onuachu consistent first-team football, which has motivated him to seek a move.


A resolution is expected within the next two days, with Southampton initially setting a transfer fee of €15 million for Onuachu. However, Göztepe's determination to finalize the deal suggests that the Nigerian striker is likely to spend another season in Turkey.


If the transfer is completed, Onuachu will join fellow Nigerian Victor Osimhen, who recently signed a four-month loan deal with Galatasaray. This move would see the two compatriots competing in the same league.


On the international front, the Super Eagles are set to face the Benin Republic in less than three days. Notably, Paul Onuachu will be absent from this crucial match, which highlights his ongoing negotiations and potential transfer.


As the transfer window progresses, the focus remains on whether Göztepe can finalize the deal and secure Onuachu's services for the upcoming season in the Turkish Süper Lig.
