Parma, Como Secure Promotion to Serie A, Playoffs Determine Third Contender

Parma and Como celebrated promotion to Serie A after clinching the top two spots in Serie B standings. Parma secured their promotion despite a 1-1 draw against Reggiana, finishing with an impressive 76 points. Como, under the guidance of former football star Cesc Fabregas, claimed the second promotion spot with 73 points following a draw with Cosenza.

 

Como's return to Serie A after 21 years marks a significant milestone for the club, with former England and Chelsea legend Dennis Wise serving as their CEO and Thierry Henry involved as an investor and board member. Their resurgence in Italian football adds an extra layer of excitement to the Serie A landscape.

 

Meanwhile, the playoffs will determine the third team to join Serie A, with Venezia leading the charge after finishing third in the standings despite a 2-1 defeat to Spezia. The playoffs feature Venezia alongside Cremonese, Catanzaro, Palermo, Sampdoria, and Brescia, with the final set to take place over two legs on May 30 and June 2.

 

As the promotion race intensifies, Serie B bids farewell to relegated teams Lecco, Feralpisalo, and Ascoli, while Bari and Ternana will compete in a playoff showdown on May 16 and 23 for a chance at remaining in the division.
