Paris Saint-Germain acquires Gonzalo Ramos for €80 million

Posted : 04 August 2023
As Kylian Mbappe's future remains uncertain, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is not slowing down in their efforts to strengthen the team for the upcoming season. Recent reports indicate that the French champions are set to acquire Benfica's star striker Gonzalo Ramos for a substantial fee of €80 million.

At just 22 years old, Ramos is seen as the future of Portugal's national team. He showcased his prowess by scoring an impressive 19 league goals this season, helping Benfica clinch the title.

In addition, he was a standout performer during the club's successful Champions League campaign, netting three goals and guiding them to the quarter-finals. His remarkable form also saw him play a vital role in Portugal's World Cup qualifiers, scoring a crucial goal against Switzerland. Ramos is expected to sign a contract with PSG until 2028.

Another player expected to join Ramos in the French capital is Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele. The talented 24-year-old will come at a cost of around €50 million, reflecting his release clause. Dembele enjoyed success at Barcelona, winning the title with the club, but has made the decision to leave.

Already present in Paris, Dembele's move has been confirmed by Barcelona coach Xavi, who revealed that the winger will be joining PSG. Dembele was enticed by the prospect of playing for Luis Enrique, the new manager of the French club, and was offered a more lucrative contract, ultimately leading to his decision to leave Barcelona.

Despite the uncertainties surrounding Mbappe's future, PSG seems determined to assemble a formidable team for the upcoming season. Besides Dembele and Ramos, the club has made significant signings, including Marco Asensio from Real Madrid on a free transfer, Lucas Hernandez from Bayern Munich for €45 million, and midfielder Manuel Ugarte from Sporting Lisbon for €60 million. With these additions, PSG looks set to build a strong and competitive squad for the upcoming campaign.
