There was a plethora of goals as the 2024 Edition of the Oyo Governor's Cup reached Match Day 2, with matches recorded across over 13 centres in Oyo State.
More schools have now booked their places in the preliminary rounds, as some games featured dominant scorelines, while others were settled from the spot.
In Ibadan North, Methodist Secondary School, Bodija defeated Basorun Ojoo High School by one goal to nil, Oba Akinyele High School put two past Ikolaba Grammar School, while St. Gabriel High School lost 3-0 to Ikolaba High School.
In Kajola, ADS Okeho qualified for the next round after beating ACHS Okeho 2-1, Gegun High School also defeated Muslim High School 3-2.
In Oyo West, Army Children Secondary School advanced over Opapa Grammar School 5-3 via penalty shootout after the game ended goalless.
In Oyo East, Olivet Heights, Oyo, scaled through with a 2-0 win over Community High School, Ajagba.
In the Atiba Zone, Isale Oyo Community High School defeated Alaafin Oyo High School 1-0, while Oranyan Grammar School were one goal better off than Bode Thomas Memorial School.
In Ibarapa East, Obaseeku High School won against Apode High School by two goals to one, while Lanlate High School lost to Baptist Grammar School by a lone goal.
At the other center in Ibadan, Loyola College were better off than Agugu High School by a lone goal, while Basorun High School had an easy run over Ayekale Community Grammar School.
The Secondary School Football Competition, proudly sponsored by Peculiar Ultimate Concerns, will move to its third day on Wednesday, 15th May, as matches will be played across all centers in Oyo State.
The competition is an initiative of the Schools Sports Foundation, headed by Yomi Elijah, a UK-trained Football Coach and former Coach of Remo Stars, Lobi Stars, ABS FC, Kogi United, and is proudly sponsored by Peculiar Ultimate Concerns. Other partners include Olafiranye Sports Foundation, the Oyo State Ministry of Education, Ministry of Sports, Oyo State Sports Council, Kidzfoot Nigeria, and others.
