The zonal elimination matches of the 2024 Oyo Governor's Cup concluded on Friday across eight zones in the state.
The eight zones are Oyo, Ogbomoso I, Ibadan I, Ibadan II, Ibadan III, Ibarapa, Oke–Ogun I, and Oke–Ogun II.
The secondary school competition, organized by the Schools' Sports Foundation and sponsored by Peculiar Ultimate Concerns, kicked off on May 13th, with over 200 schools participating.
In Ibadan Zone I, Bashorun High School defeated Eleyele Secondary School to emerge as champions of the zone, thereby qualifying for the Quarterfinals of the event.
Bishop Phillip High School continued their great form in the competition, mauling Zumuratual Hujaj School by six goals to nil in Ibadan Zone II.
Government College Ibadan showed their superiority over Owode CHS Bode Ogbo by defeating them with two unreplied goals in Ibadan Zone III.
In Oke-Ogun II, unlucky Obalufon Grammar School lost via penalties to Olanipekun Memorial High School 5-4 after playing to a 1-1 draw in regulation time.
St. John Catholic Grammar School, Isalu, won over Muslim Grammar School, Otu, by a lone goal in Oke-Ogun I, while Ladigbolu Grammar School lost 3-1 to Awe High School in the Oyo Zonal Elimination final.
The participating schools in each zone are:

- Government College, Ibadan - Ibadan Zone III
- Olanipekun Memorial High School - Oke Ogun II
- St. John Catholic Grammar School, Isalu - Oke Ogun I
- Awe High School - Oyo
- Baptist Grammar School, Ahoyaya - Ogbomosho
- Bioku Grammar School, Lanlate - Ibarapa
The Competition is an initiative of the Schools Sports Foundation, headed by Yomi Elijah, a UK-trained Football Coach, and former Coach of Remo Stars, Lobi Stars, ABS FC, Kogi United, and is proudly sponsored by Peculiar Ultimate Concerns. Other partners include Olafiranye Sports Foundation, the Oyo State Ministry of Education, Ministry of Sports, Oyo State Sports Council, Kidzfoot Nigeria, and others.
