Oyedele, Shoretire absent from Manchester United's Lyon match

Manchester United has revealed a 24-man squad for their pre-season friendly against Lyon, but young talents of Nigerian descent, Maxi Oyedele and Shola Shoretire, were not included in the list. 

Despite training with the first team over the weekend, they did not make the cut for the trip to Edinburgh. 

Previously, Dutch manager Erik ten Hag had named both Shoretire and Oyedele in the traveling squad to Norway, where they contributed to a 2-0 victory against Leeds United, with Shoretire making an impressive 45-minute appearance on the pitch while Oyedele remained as an unused substitute. 

Now, they have their sights set on earning spots in the squad for Tour 2023 in the United States.

In the upcoming match against Lyon, Manchester United will be without key figures such as Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes, as well as other internationals who rejoined training on Saturday. 

The squad will instead undergo training at Carrington and then proceed to New York for further preparation ahead of the upcoming season.
