Osimhen's Napoli contract extension delay revealed

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is currently in negotiations with Serie A champions Napoli for a new contract extension, but they have not yet reached an agreement on his release clause. 

Osimhen's outstanding performance last season, with an impressive tally of 31 goals in 39 appearances, has attracted interest from top clubs such as Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and PSG. 

Despite the interest, Napoli has firmly stated that they will only consider bids close to €50 million to release him from the club.

Osimhen, on the other hand, seems content with his position at Napoli and has become a beloved figure among the fans. 

Although his current contract expires at the end of the upcoming season, Napoli has initiated talks to extend his deal by two more years, and most details have reportedly been agreed upon.

However, the sticking point remains the release clause. Mirror reports that Osimhen is holding out on signing the contract due to Napoli's desire to set his release clause at €200 million, while he prefers it to be at €120 million. 

Both parties are actively discussing the matter, and it is expected that they will eventually reach a compromise to finalize the contract extension.
