Osimhen wins Super Lig Goal of the Week for Kasimpasa strike

Victor Osimhen’s goal in the 28th minute during Galatasaray's thrilling 3-3 draw with Kasımpaşa at RAMS Park last weekend has earned him the title of Goal of the Week for matchday seven, as determined by beIN SPORTS. 


The 25-year-old forward showcased his skill and decisiveness by avoiding an offside position and expertly controlling the ball with his hips before sending a powerful shot past Kasımpaşa's goalkeeper, Andreas Gianniotis. His impressive strike captivated fans and analysts alike.


Among the 13,188 votes cast, Osimhen dominated the poll, securing an impressive 77.96% of the total votes. He triumphed over other notable contenders, including Edin Visca, Andreaw Gravillon, and Taulant Seferi, to claim the award.


Despite facing challenges during the pre-season due to transfer issues, the reigning African Men's Player of the Year has quickly become an integral part of Galatasaray’s squad. He has consistently contributed to the team’s performance, starting every match in which he was named to the squad.


In his four appearances for the 24-time Turkish champions, Osimhen has either scored or assisted, demonstrating his impact on the field. His form reflects his ability to adapt swiftly despite the initial setbacks he faced.


Unfortunately, due to an injury, Osimhen will not be able to participate in the upcoming UEFA Europa League match against Latvian side Futbola Klubs Rīgas Futbola Skola (FK RFS) on Thursday, limiting his chance to further increase his goal tally.


The seriousness of Osimhen’s injury remains uncertain, leaving questions about his availability for the Super Eagles’ upcoming back-to-back fixtures against Libya in the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The team's hopes will hinge on his recovery and readiness to play in those critical matches.
