Victor Osimhen had to watch from the stands as Galatasaray continued their flawless start to the 2024-2025 Süper Lig season, securing a 3-1 victory over Gaziantep FK in a rescheduled match held at RAMS Park on Tuesday night.
The 25-year-old striker, who was not yet part of Galatasaray when the match was initially scheduled, was ineligible to participate in this fixture. His absence did not hinder Galatasaray's performance, as they dominated the game and managed to score three goals before Gaziantep FK could respond.
Baris Alper Yilmaz set the tone early, scoring the first goal in the 11th minute with a precise shot from outside the penalty area. This goal marked his second consecutive match with a goal.
In the 26th minute, Yunus Akgün extended Galatasaray’s lead to two goals. The advantage was further solidified in the 76th minute when Michy Batshuayi added a third goal with a well-executed volley.
Furkan Soyalp managed to score a consolation goal for Gaziantep FK in the 81st minute, capitalizing on a rare error by Galatasaray goalkeeper Fernando Muslera, who had ventured off his line.
Osimhen is expected to return to the field when Galatasaray faces Fenerbahçe in an important match at the top of the table, scheduled to take place at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium.
With this victory, Galatasaray has amassed fifteen points from their first five games of the season, having scored seventeen goals and conceded four.
