Osimhen shows off new Galatasaray colors, leaves Napoli

Victor Osimhen’s social media profiles have undergone a significant change following his move from Napoli to Galatasaray on a season-long loan. The Nigerian striker has removed all references to Napoli and now prominently features Galatasaray’s colors on his accounts, particularly on X (formerly Twitter).


This transformation comes after a summer filled with transfer speculation and uncertainty. The transfer window saw intense negotiations and multiple links to potential destinations, including Saudi Arabia’s Al Ahli and Premier League side Chelsea. 


The summer of 2024 was a tumultuous period for Osimhen, marked by a stand-off between Napoli, his agents, and various clubs interested in securing his services. Despite the high-profile interest, no deal materialized until Osimhen joined Galatasaray, which many view as a significant and much-needed change for the player.


Reports indicate that Osimhen felt undervalued at Napoli, and his transfer to Galatasaray is seen as an opportunity to escape what some have described as a restrictive situation. His updated social media profile now reflects his new status, featuring a new bio that reads, “Professional football player for Galatasaray and Super Eagles of Nigeria,” along with a Galatasaray jersey photo, albeit with his face cropped out.


Additionally, his banner image now showcases him wearing the number 45 shirt and holding his daughter, symbolizing a fresh start in his career. This rebranding highlights Osimhen’s transition to a new chapter with his new club.


Osimhen made an immediate impact on the pitch, scoring as a substitute in Nigeria’s recent 3-0 win over Benin Republic. He capitalized on a pass from Wilfred Ndidi to extend the Super Eagles' lead, demonstrating his readiness and skill.


As Nigeria gears up for their upcoming match against Rwanda at the Stade Amahoro, all eyes will be on Osimhen to see if he can continue his impressive form and contribute significantly for both his club and national team.
