Arsenal are reportedly considering a January move for Victor Osimhen, prompting a closer look at the Nigerian striker's transfer situation and contractual clauses.
Osimhen moved to Galatasaray on loan from Napoli in September 2024 after failed negotiations with Al-Ahli, PSG, and Chelsea.
The Turkish club did not secure an option to buy in the loan agreement, so the striker is expected to return to Napoli at the end of the season. However, a long-term stay at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona is unlikely.
Osimhen's current contract with Napoli runs until June 2026, but an extension clause was activated, extending the deal to 2027 before his loan to Galatasaray. Napoli has reportedly set a €75m release clause for a permanent transfer in the summer, though a January deal would require €90m due to Galatasaray’s share of the transfer fee.
Despite this clause, Galatasaray officials have reiterated their intention to keep Osimhen for the remainder of the season, making a mid-season transfer less likely.
Reports from La Repubblica revealed that Osimhen rejected an offer from Manchester United earlier this month. Meanwhile, transfer analyst Pete O’Rourke stated Arsenal are “exploring a move” for the striker to strengthen their attacking options before the transfer window closes.
Osimhen, who earns €10m annually at Napoli, is receiving €6m in wages from Galatasaray this season. The 26-year-old has impressed with 14 goals and six assists in 18 appearances across all competitions for the Turkish side.
