CAF has narrowed down the 2023 Player of the Year nominees to a list of 10, featuring prominent figures in African football.
Originally comprising 30 players, the nominations list has now been trimmed, with Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen being the sole Nigerian to make the cut.
Osimhen shares the spotlight with four Moroccans, including Achraf Hakimi, Sofyan Amrabat, Yaccine Bounou, and Yousef En-Nesyri, primarily recognized for their exceptional performances in the World Cup.
Among the top 10 are renowned players such as Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, Algerian Riyad Mahrez, Senegalese Sadio Mane, and two Cameroonians, Zambo Anguissa and Vincent Aboubakar.
Napoli's striker Osimhen is widely considered the front-runner for the 2023 Player of the Year, following an outstanding 12 months contributing significantly to both club and country. His impressive record includes scoring 31 goals in 39 games across all competitions, crucial in Napoli's achievement of winning Serie A after a 33-year hiatus.
