Osimhen, a target for Manchester United and Chelsea, worth N38.1 billion

Posted : 07 June 2023
The International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) has recently released their latest weekly post, revealing the top 100 estimated transfer values in the world of football.

Topping the list are three exceptional players: Erling Haaland from Manchester City, Vinícius Júnior from Real Madrid, and Bukayo Saka from Arsenal, solidifying their status as the most expensive players in the global market.

Utilizing their advanced statistical model developed by the CIES Football Observatory, they have calculated Victor Osimhen's estimated transfer value to be a staggering 77.3 million euros, which equates to approximately N38.1 billion in Nigerian currency.

However, it's important to note that Napoli, Osimhen's current club, values their number 9 at a much higher price tag of around 150 million euros.

Such an astronomical figure presents a significant hurdle for even the deep-pocketed Premier League clubs to consider.

Among those expressing interest in Osimhen's services, Manchester United stands out as they seek to reinforce their attacking options during the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Nigerian international has been linked with the Red Devils, alongside other potential targets, as Manchester United looks to bolster their attacking prowess.

In addition to Osimhen, other names that have been mentioned as potential candidates to enhance Manchester United's attacking force include Harry Kane, Rasmus Hojlund, Randal Kolo Muani, Goncalo Ramos, Lautaro Martinez, and Dušan Vlahović.

These players have captured the attention of the club due to their impressive performances and goal-scoring abilities.

It's worth noting that Lautaro Martínez from Inter Milan boasts an estimated transfer value of €100.7 million, making him one of the more expensive options on the market.

Similarly, Gonçalo Ramos from Benfica holds an estimated value of €82.3 million, and Dušan Vlahović from Juventus is valued at €79.3 million.

These higher price tags can be attributed to their extended contracts, which tie them to their respective clubs until the summer of 2026.

In contrast, Osimhen has two more years remaining on his current contract with Napoli.

Meanwhile, Chelsea, another prominent Premier League club, is actively scouring the market for a world-class striker and has also been linked with a potential move for Osimhen.

The Blues are keenly aware of the pressing need to bolster their attacking options, as they managed only 38 goals in the Premier League throughout the previous season.

Kai Havertz emerged as their top scorer with a modest tally of seven goals, highlighting the urgency to secure a prolific center forward.

Victor Osimhen's estimated transfer value has drawn significant attention from top clubs such as Manchester United and Chelsea, who are both actively seeking reinforcements in their attacking departments.

While Osimhen's valuation by Napoli remains high, his exceptional skills and potential make him an attractive prospect for teams looking to strengthen their goal-scoring capabilities.

The upcoming summer transfer window promises to be an intriguing period as these clubs maneuver to secure the services of top-class strikers to enhance their chances of success in the upcoming season.
