Oshoala joyous after scoring in third FIFA Women's World Cup

Asisat Oshoala, the Super Falcons striker, remains composed and unaffected despite achieving a historic milestone as the first African player to score in three different World Cup tournaments. 

During Nigeria's thrilling 3-2 victory over Australia in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Oshoala played a pivotal role, making her mark after being introduced into the game in the 62nd minute when the score was level at 1-1.

Her impact was immediate and decisive, as she was instrumental in creating the corner that led to Nigeria's second goal in the 65th minute. 

Just seven minutes later, Oshoala herself found the back of the net, securing the third goal for the Super Falcons. 

Beyond its significance in the match, this goal carved her name in the annals of African football history, establishing her as the first African player to score in three consecutive World Cup tournaments.

Despite the magnitude of her achievement, the 28-year-old striker remains grounded and approaches her accomplishments with a lighthearted and joyful attitude. 

In a post-match interview, Oshoala nonchalantly described her feat as "just having fun and enjoying my career." She sees herself as a young girl on a journey, cherishing the experience alongside her amazing and hardworking teammates.

Following the exhilarating victory against Australia, Nigeria now sets its sights on their final group stage match against Ireland, where Oshoala will undoubtedly aim to replicate her heroics.
