Onuachu hails Southampton debutant Welington, he was brilliant

Southampton secured a vital victory against Ipswich Town in their fight to avoid relegation, with debutant Welington Santos delivering an eye-catching performance.  


The Brazilian full-back showcased his defensive skills and energy, earning praise from teammate Paul Onuachu for his impressive display.  


Onuachu, who netted the decisive goal in the 2-1 win, commended Welington’s determination and work ethic, highlighting his contribution to the team’s success.  


The Super Eagles striker acknowledged that the 23-year-old defender made an immediate impact despite it being his first senior appearance since October.  


Welington played a crucial role in neutralizing Ipswich’s attacking threats, winning 10 out of 13 ground duels and drawing two fouls while effectively marking Omari Hutchinson.  


Onuachu’s decisive goal sealed the win for Southampton, but he shifted the focus to his teammate’s performance, applauding Welington’s efforts on the field.  


Additionally, Onuachu’s aerial ability proved vital, as he won 16 aerial duels, showcasing his importance to Southampton’s attacking strategy in the upcoming matches.
