Onimarg Football Club of Akure has announced FC Banik Ostrava as one of the five European teams partnering with the club.
The Chief Executive Officer of the team, Mrs. Tayo Onilude, made the announcement and stated that the time has come to highlight some of the achievements recorded by the team since its establishment.
Onilude, speaking in Akure, the Ondo State capital, expressed satisfaction with the level of progress made so far.
"I'm glad that we've made appreciable progress on and off the pitch with the collective efforts of the management team. I must congratulate all of us and commend my managers for giving their best."
Onilude mentioned that the quality of talented young players in her team attracted the interest of five European teams, leading to the establishment of a robust partnership with Onimarg FC.
She said that hard work, dedication, and professionalism are the other factors that have helped tremendously since the team's establishment over twelve months ago.
"A dream of years ago is now becoming a reality. Banik Ostrava isn't the only team in Europe ready to partner with us.
"We have four more teams in Spain, Germany, Italy, and Holland ready to partner with us in the areas of training and retraining our coaches and backroom staff, helping our players develop quickly with modern-day football techniques, and contract offers, among others."
Onilude advised parents to keep supporting skilled kids in achieving their dreams.
Onilude, who is the Chairperson of the Ondo State Football Coaches Association, urged well-to-do Nigerians and indigenes of Ondo State to look beyond politics and help develop football and other sports, saying that football remains the best unifying factor globally.
"Our well-to-do friends can invest in our project, and together, we can raise talents for the benefit of all."
It could be recalled that Onimarg FC played in the finals of the State Federation Cup, losing 1-0 to Sunshine Queens FC, before bowing out in the Round of 16 of the National event against FC Robo.
In April, the team bowed out in the quarter-finals of the Chief of Naval Staff/NOWA Football Tournament in Enugu State, with Islamiat Yusuf of Onimarg FC emerging as the most valuable player.
The team won the 2nd Edition of the "Rural is Cool" football tournament a few months ago.
The official signing of the agreement between officials of FC Banik Ostrava and Onimarg FC is scheduled for October at the Sheraton Hotels, Ikeja, Lagos.
