Doma United’s head coach, Akinade Onigbinde, has vowed to turnaround the recent poor performance of his team to escape relegation at the end of the season.

Onigbinde stated this on Saturday after their 1-1 draw with state rival, Gombe United, in an NPFL Match Day 27 tie played at the Pantami Township Stadium.

He admitted that though his team was having challenges, they would bounce back to remain in the league next season.

“I have assurance that the team will not face relegation.

“Having problems is a learning process, we are also learning. This is our second time in the premier league and we cannot just say we are going to be among the top teams.

“This is a private team and the man, (Suleiman Umar) is trying his best to ensure that the team succeeds.

“We are trying and we will bounce back. It’s just a matter of time until we make it,” he said.

He attributed their recent poor performance in the league to injuries and the absence of some players outside the country for trials.

He, however, expressed optimism that with the return of the injured players, his team’s performance would improve in their match against Akwa United.

Regarding the match with Gombe United, Onigbinde said it was not a good match for them as they intended to pick up maximum points to move up the NPFL table.

He apologized to fans and supporters of the club who felt disappointed by the club’s recent poor performance.

The coach enjoined them to be patient with the team.

When approached for an interview, the chief coach of Gombe United, Alhaji Kwairanga, declined the request.

David Nnaji scored for Gombe United in the 12th minute of the game, while Musa Usman equalized for Doma United in the 64th minute.
