Kenneth Omeruo, the former Chelsea centre-back, had previously committed to a return to Turkish Super Lig club Kasımpaşa S.K. for a third spell this summer.
However, his trip to Turkey for a routine medical has been delayed due to interest from an unnamed Saudi Arabian club, who have yet to make a formal contract offer.
Despite this interest, Kasımpaşa remains in the lead to secure his services.
As Omeruo approaches 30 years old in October, he is seeking a substantial pay package, something that Kasımpaşa might not be able to offer.
Having been at Leganes since 2018, Omeruo has played 123 matches for Los Pepineros, including 51 in La Liga.
During his time at Chelsea, Omeruo enjoyed two loan spells at Kasımpaşa, featuring in 54 matches for the Istanbul club.
Despite holding a work permit to play for Chelsea, he did not get an opportunity with the club and was subsequently loaned out to ADO Den Haag, Middlesbrough, Alanyaspor, and Leganes.
Now, as he considers his future options, Omeruo must weigh the potential move to a Saudi Arabian club against the possibility of returning to familiar territory at Kasımpaşa.
