Bankole Olowookere, head coach of Nigeria's U-17 women's football team, the Flamingos, has expressed optimism that the team will excel at the upcoming FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic.
Olowookere disclosed that the team is fully prepared for the championship.
The coach stated that the girls are determined and ready to give their best for positive results at the tournament.
"We arrived in Santo Domingo on Thursday and started training immediately on Friday; this shows the team's readiness.
"We want the girls to get accustomed to the environment before the championship begins.
"All the players, from goalkeepers to attackers, defenders, and midfielders, have been training hard.
"The girls will engage in a series of warm-up games before the World Cup kicks off," he said.
He mentioned that the team aims to surpass their previous standing from the last edition of the tournament.
"We urge Nigerians to support us with prayers so we can achieve victory and bring home desirable results," he said.
The coach added that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has provided the team with the necessary support to succeed.
"With seriousness, determination, a high level of discipline, and dedication, the girls will excel at the World Cup," he said.
The Flamingos arrived in Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic, on Wednesday for a two-week training tour.
